Mover’s spotlight
Name: Glenn Sampert
New position: General manager at the InterContinental Miami.
About: Sampert will oversee the day-to-day operations of the 653-room, 34-story bayfront hotel in downtown Miami, which includes the recent addition of a 30,000-square-foot turf-covered flexible lawn space.
Also: Sampert was most recently regional vice president for hotel operations at HEI Hotels & Resorts.
And: Sampert has more than 30 years experience in the industry. He has been been general manager for a number of North American Starwood Hotels & Resorts properties, including The Liberty, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts, The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa in Tucson, Arizona; The Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort & Casino in The Bahamas; The Westin Los Angeles Airport Hotel and The Westin Maui Resort & Spa in Hawaii.
Education: He graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in hospitality and tourism administration.
Best advice: The best advice I ever received was that people have more regrets about what they didn't attempt, much more than trying something and failing. Letting fear of failure go is very liberating.
