▪ Brent Burns has been named president and COO. He has been COO since 2014 and a board member since 2012. He will continue to oversee Southeast Toyota Distributors, World Omni Financial Corp. and JM&A Group, and lead the organization’s information technology strategic planning. Burns is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University.

He is the former vice president of digital media at NASCAR. Smith has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
Jonathan Simoens has been named commercial banking director at Florida Community Bank and is based in Weston. Simoens has held various roles in the banks, including C&I credit director for Florida. He has a bachelor’s in finance, and an MBA, from Florida International University.
Pablo Estepe has been named vice president and branch sales leader for the Doral branch of BankUnited. He was previously vice president, branch sales and service manager for the Coral Gables headquarters of Mercantil Commercebank.
Anthony Altieri, associate dean of students for Lynn University, was appointed interim vice president for student affairs at the university. Altieri’s college degrees include an MBA from Lynn and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Florida.
Michael MacDonnell has been named director of food and beverage at The Raleigh in Miami Beach, which is owned by The Raleigh Group. He will continue to oversee the neighboring sbe Group property, Townhouse. MacDonnell has been director of operations at Commune Hotels in Chicago.
Francisco Ponce has been named vice president of on-air talent management at NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises in Miami. Previously, he was CEO and president of In2ition Entertainment. Ponce has a bachelor’s in communications from FIU.
Dr. Jane Mendez, a breast surgical oncologist, has been named chief of breast surgery at Miami Cancer Institute, a part of Baptist Health South Florida. She was previously a surgical oncologist at Boston Medical Center, where she was president of the medical and dental staff. Mendez has an undergraduate degree from Harvard and a medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.
Danielle F. Spiegelman has been named senior director of advancement/campus and campaign development at Temple Judea in Coral Gables, one of the Miami area’s largest Reform synagogues. Most recently, she was CEO/executive director for Cancer Support Community of Greater Miami. Spiegelman has a bachelor’s in advertising from UF.

About: Early in his career, Austin spent more than a decade at McDermott before re-joining the firm in its Litigation Practice Group. He will focus his practice on complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on providing litigation services to clients in the health industry and private equity sector.
Education: J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, where he graduated first in the class and was editor of the UM Law Review.
