These are the coolest new restaurants to open in Miami. We have lots of eating to do
The year is almost over, and the question bears asking: Have you eaten at any of the new Miami restaurants that have popped up in the past couple of months?
Probably not, since you had to wade through Thanksgiving, Art Basel and Christmas.
So here’s your chance.
Here are some of the restaurants that opened in around Miami in the past two months. Start checking them off your list now.
Meraki
This Greek gem opened a second location in Coconut Grove, serving Mediterranean fare that includes something called flaming cheese, which haunts our dreams in the best possible way.
Nave
Chef Michael Beltran, creator of Ariete, and Chef Justin Flit, founder of Proof Pizza, joined forces to open this pasta and seafood-focused restaurant in the western corner of Coconut Grove.
Hutong
This luxury Chinese restaurant with spots in Hong Kong, London and New York finally opened in Miami in 2019. It’s got its own 70-foot “Great Wall” and focuses on northern Chinese recipes.
Balloo
Timon Balloo made Midtown’s Sugarcane the place to be. Now he has opened a new downtown restaurant that blends Asian, Caribbean and Indian influences and Balloo’s own vivid culinary imagination.
Omakai
Looking for an affordable omakase experience? Omakai in Wynwood has options in the $20, $30 and $40 range (you can also order a la carte options).
Osaka
The South American Nikkei gem opened its first U.S. location in Brickell. Expect Peruvian delights, especially loads of ceviche.
Chica
Now occupying the former space of Soyka is the upscale Chica, the brainchild of chef, cookbook author and TV personality Lorena García and the 50 Eggs group. The pan-Latin American restaurant also has a brand new look.
Orilla Bar & Grill
Located in the Urbanica The Euclid Hotel, this South of FIfth restaurant serves South American and European-style dishes in a laidback atmosphere.
Nativo Kitchen & Bar
Located on the 25th floor of the Conrad Miami, Nativo features a Latin-centric menu by Executive Chef and “Top Chef” alum Pablo Lamon and encourages diners to order dishes to share.
INT.IMO
Owner of CVi.Che 105 and Pollos y Jarras Juan Chipoco opened this upscale Peruvian Nikkei restaurant, which features sushi as well as a series of hot dishes.
Inramen
This new spot for ramen in South Miami has graffiti-themed decor - and you can order from your phone.
House of Mac
We were sad when World Famous House of Mac closed its restaurant on South Beach - but now there’s a new location in North Miami Beach where you can eat your weight in mac and cheese (there are also locations in Wynwood and Central Fare).
Luna Park
La Centrale is no more. In its place comes Luna Park, which brings three new concepts to the second floor of the three-story Italian food hall: Macellaio RC, an Italian butchery; Osterio No. 0, which will serve Southern Italian fare and a gluten-free vegetarian restaurant, Puro’s. On the top floor will be a restaurant by Michelin-star Chef Nino di Costanzo, due to open early in 2020.
