The Miami Hurricanes were idle during conference championship weekend after their regular-season schedule ended with a 42-38 road loss to the Syracuse Orange on Nov. 30 to eliminate them from participating in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Game.

But they still saw movement in the final AP top 25 poll ahead of the College Football Playoff reveal.

Miami checked in at No. 15 in the latest edition of the AP poll released on Sunday, down 1 spots from the No. 14 ranking the Hurricanes had last week. The Hurricanes were No. 12 last week in the College Football Playoff rankings, which will determine the 12-team playoff field. The final CFP rankings will be unveiled at noon Sunday.

The Hurricanes finished the regular season 10-2, including 6-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. Their loss to Syracuse to end the season allowed Clemson to reach the ACC Championship Game, where it beat SMU 34-31 to win the conference title and secure an automatic bid into the playoffs.

The Hurricanes began the season ranked No. 19 in the AP poll. They moved up to No. 12 after Week 1, No. 10 after Week 2, No. 8 after Week 3 and No. 7 after Week 4 before falling to No. 8 after Week 5. UM then moved up to No. 6 after Week 6 and stayed there for two weeks before being bumped up to No. 5 after Week 9 and then up again to No. 4 after Week 10. Miami fell to No. 12 after Week 11 following its first loss of the season to Georgia Tech. The Hurricanes moved up to No. 11 after their bye week and then to No. 8 after beating Wake Forest before falling again, this time to No. 14, after losing to Syracuse.
