Miami Hurricanes make big jump in AP top 25 poll after season-opening win over Florida
The Miami Hurricanes are moving up in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
UM on Tuesday checked in at No. 12, seven spots higher than its preseason ranking of No. 19.
The Hurricanes’ bump up in the poll comes after a 41-17 road win over the Florida Gators on Saturday to begin the season.
It also has them as the highest-rated team from the Atlantic Coast Conference after other top contenders from the league faltered to begin the season.
Clemson, which lost 34-3 to No. 1 Georgia, dropped from No. 14 to No. 25. Florida State fell out of the poll completely after opening the season at No. 10 following losses to Georgia Tech and Boston College in back-to-back weeks.
The other ACC teams ranked in the top 25: No. 22 Louisville, No. 23 Georgia Tech and No. 24 N.C. State.
The Hurricanes continue their season with their home opener against Florida A&M on Saturday. Kickoff at Hard Rock Stadium is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will be live streamed on ACC Network Extra.
