Where the 9-1 Miami Hurricanes rank in the AP poll after loss to Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
The Miami Hurricanes’ undefeated run came to an end with a 28-23 loss to Georgia Tech on Saturday.
Their standing in the AP top 25 poll unsurprisingly took a big hit.
Miami checked in at No. 12 in the latest edition of the AP poll released on Sunday, down eight spots from the No. 4 ranking the Hurricanes had last week.
The Hurricanes are 9-1 this season, including 5-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. They still have the inside track to make it to the ACC Championship Game if they win their final two games of the season.
The Hurricanes began the season ranked No. 19 before moving up to No. 12 after Week 1, No. 10 after Week 2, No. 8 after Week 3 and No. 7 after Week 4 before falling to No. 8 after Week 5, moving up to No. 6 after Week 6 and staying there for two weeks before being bumped up to No. 5 after Week 9 and then up again to No. 4 after Week 10.
Miami wasn’t the only ranked team team to take a hit last week. No. 2 Georgia lost to No. 16 Ole Miss, No. 14 LSU lost to No. 11 Alabama, No. 17 Iowa State lost to Kansas, No. 23 Pittsburgh lost to Virginia and No. 24 Vanderbilt lost to South Carolina.
The Hurricanes are on bye this week and then host Wake Forest on Nov. 23.
