The Miami Hurricanes remain undefeated, albeit with a closer victory this week than their first four, but even that and a couple losses by teams above them didn’t do them any favors in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.

Miami checked in at No. 8 in the latest edition of the AP poll on Sunday, down one spot from last week.

UM opened ACC play with a 38-34, come-from-behind victory over Virginia Tech on Friday. The Hurricanes (5-0, 1-0 ACC) rallied from a 10-point deficit and Virginia Tech’s Hail Mary attempt on the final play of the game that was originally deemed a touchdown was ultimately ruled incomplete after a lengthy review.

Miami had moved up in the poll every week so far this season before Sunday. The Hurricanes began the season ranked No. 19 before moving up to No. 12 after Week 1, No. 10 after Week 2, No. 8 after Week 3 and No. 7 after Week 4.

The top 10 of the poll overall had a lot of shakeups fueled largely by Alabama’s 41-34 win over Georgia and Ole Miss’s 20-17 loss to unranked Kentucky on Saturday.

The full top 10: No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Texas, No. 3 Ohio State, No. 4 Tennessee, No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 Oregon, No. 7 Penn State, No. 8 Miami, No. 9 Missouri and No. 10 Michigan.

Miami will travel to Berkeley to play the Cal Golden Bears on Saturday, with kickoff scheduled for 10:30 p.m. The game will be the site of ESPN’s College GameDay.
