If you’re trying to figure out how to get to the college football championship game at Hard Rock Stadium on Monday, you have a lot of thinking to do.

Summon an Uber? Take a train. Ride a bus?

One way you may not want to travel is by car. Unless you already have a coveted parking pass — and they are being sold for hundreds of dollars on the secondary market — you’ll have a tough time finding a space near the stadium.

Here’s what to know about getting to and from the UM-Indiana game in Miami Gardens:

Tri-Rail

Tri-Rail

Tri-Rail is running special schedules for north and south trains to get fans to and from Hard Rock Stadium. The closest train station is at Golden Glades, about 4 1/2 miles from the stadium. Tri-Rail says Hard Rock will offer free shuttles from the station.

Brightline

A train makes its way under a newly developed traffic ramp near Aventura Mall and a Brightline station on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in Aventura, Fla. The horse-shoe shaped ramp takes drivers over the congested intersection of Ives Dairy Road and U.S. 1.

Brightline is running special trains for Brightline ticket buyers going to the game. Passengers can get free round-trip shuttle service from the Aventura Brightline Station to Hard Rock Stadium. Tickets are needed to board the shuttles. Brightline’s Aventura station, just west of the mall, is about six miles from Hard Rock Stadium.

To take the shuttle back to the train station from the stadium, fans must go to the Lot 18 pedestrian bridge on Northwest 199th Street.

Brightline is also offering 25% off certain rides when student riders create Brightline accounts using their university emails and for groups of three people or more traveling from Orlando to South Florida.

Street shutdowns

If you’re driving to the game, or driving in the area on game day, note that several roads and ramps are being shut down. According to the city of Miami Gardens, the following roads will be closed before the game on Monday, Jan. 19, from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m., and then after the game from 10:30 p.m. to 11 a.m. the next day:

  • Northbound Exit 2X on Florida’s Turnpike
  • Southbound Exit 2X on Florida’s Turnpike
  • Northwest 14th Court and 199th Street
  • Northwest 27th Avenue and 199th Street

Stadium shuttle bus

Hard Rock Stadium is offering free bus shuttles to the stadium from Lot 70 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel. Shuttles begin running at 11 a.m. Monday morning and will run until 75 minutes after the game. Lot 70 is across from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel, 5700 S. State Road 7 near Hollywood. Shuttle buses also are running from Lot 95 at the Golden Glades Parking Garage, 16000 NW Seventh Ave.

Rideshare

Be prepared to pay surge prices if you take Uber.

An Uber ride to Hard Rock Stadium around 4:45 p.m. Friday would cost about $50 from the Fontainebleau resort in Miami Beach, where UM is based, or the Intercontinental hotel in downtown Miami, where IU is based.

That same ride on Monday afternoon or night could run into the hundreds based on past major events at the stadium.

And don’t expect door-to-door service. Hard Rock Stadium’s rideshare drop-off and pick-up is at Lot 44 at Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex at 3000 NW 199th St. in Miami Gardens. The lot is a 25-minute walk from Hard Rock’s entrance and exit. Rideshare users may see surge pricing or extended wait times.

Uber Shuttle is available from 199th Street near Lot 18 pedestrian bridge to locations around Miami. Uber Shuttle allows users to ride on requested bus routes to locations with other riders.

Taxi

Taxi pickup will be at 199th Street near Gate 3 after the game and will be first-come, first-serve. Taxi providers will decide the price of the rides.
