What’s recycling and what’s garbage?

That question is at the heart of curbside recycling programs across the country.

Recycling processors and municipalities urge customers to err on the side of throwing away material if they’re not sure, since misplaced garbage in recycling bins bogs down the recycling process and makes it more expensive.

But what are some of the trickier recycling questions that customers face? For our quiz, we used recycling guidelines from Waste Management, the processor for both Broward and Miami-Dade counties, as well as information from Miami-Dade’s Solid Waste Department and the searchable recycling guide produced by Waste Connections, which provides recycling services for some Miami-Dade cities.

Take our quiz below on what items can be recycled. If you can’t see the quiz, turn off your ad blocker.
