67,000 powerbanks have been recalled after burning hands, feet, furniture and floors
Charging the phone or laptop shouldn’t involve treating burned skin or furniture. That’s why myCharge recalled 67,000 powerbanks last week.
The exact problem, as stated in the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice: “The powerbank’s lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards.”
Not just “can overheat” but has overheated, 30 times, according to the alert. That’s resulted in “seven injuries, including burns to the upper body, hands, legs and/or feet of users and/or property damage to household flooring, walls and furniture.”
This covers seven kinds of myCharge powerbanks:
Adventure Mega, model No. AVC20KG-A, codes 2818, 3718, 4018, 4518.
