A jogging stroller’s wheel problem caused a user to get bruised — and got it recalled

A jogging stroller shouldn’t have wheels that work like the bad cart at Walmart or Kroger — that’s why Joovy recalled 9,200 of its Zoom 360 Ultralight strollers.

The exact problem, as described in the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice: “The stroller’s front wheel bearing can fail or detach, posing a fall and injury hazard.”

And the incident/injury report from Joovy says the company has heard of “25 incidents of restricted front wheel movement reported, including 12 incidents where the wheel fork bearing wore through the housing and detached with one fall resulting in bruises when the user fell onto the stroller.”

This covers strollers with SKU Nos. 8060, 8061, 8067 and 8069 and a batch number between March 2020 and October 2020. They were sold from May to December of 2020 for about $250 per stroller.

Joovy’s offering just repair via a free repair kit the company expects you to install by following the instructions on a video. But, if you want a refund, ask.

To contact the company for the free repair kit or a refund, email zoom360@joovy.com or call 800-495-8718, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Eastern time.
