A driver was shot twice and a vehicle left with bullet holes in a violent ambush Sunday morning on Interstate 95 in Broward County, according to Florida Highway Patrol troopers.
At around 4:3- a.m., FHP troopers pulled up to the westbound Oakland Park Boulevard exit ramp on northbound I-95, spokeswoman Lt. Indiana Miranda said in an email. When they got there, they found a driver with two gunshot wounds and a vehicle with 10 bullet holes on its left side and one in the windshield.
The victim was subsequently taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.
Investigators say the driver was heading north on I-95 when someone in a gray Honda Civic pulled alongside the victim, firing several shots. After the attack, the Civic continued traveling north on the highway.
The northbound lanes of I-95 from Sunrise Boulevard to Oakland Park Boulevard reopened around 10 a.m. after being shut down for several hours as Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives investigated.
Authorities didn’t release additional information.
