Pedestrian hit and killed on Broward street

A pedestrian crossing West Broward Boulevard was struck and killed by a car Monday night.

Yolanda Walker, 45, crossing West Broward Boulevard in the 2900 block, was hit around 9:30 Monday night, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

When she reached the left lane of the westbound side of the street, a Hyundai Elantra driven by 22-year-old Mariana Thermy struck Walker. Thermy and her child passenger where taken to Broward Health Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Walker died at Broward Health.

Thermy’s driving record was previously pristine.

Pedestrians have been struck this summer on 41st Street in Miami Beach, and in Little Havana, Biscayne Boulevard, Aventura and Oakland Park.
