Real estate leaders discuss affordable housing and closing deals this week amid a pandemic.

The D.C.-based nonprofit Urban Land Institute is organizing the free webinar “Confronting COVID-19 in multifamily housing” from 1 to 2:15 p.m. Christopher Ptomey, the executive director of the ULI Terwilliger Center for Housing, will moderate the discussion focused on health and housing strategies that can be implemented in multifamily projects. Megan Sandel, co-director of the kids-focused Grow Clinic at Boston Medical Center; Douglas Bibby, president of the D.C.-based nonprofit National Multifamily Housing Council; and Diane Yentel, president and chief executive officer of the D.C.-based membership organization National Low Income Housing Coalition. The Miami Herald will host the free webinar “How to close deals in the time of coronavirus” starting at 10 a.m. Herald Business Editor Jane Wooldridge will moderate the discussion highlighting how residential real estate agents are setting client expectations, overcoming objections, and predictions for the weeks ahead. Five panelists will join the talk including Nelson Gonzalez, Miami Beach luxury specialist with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices EWM Realty; Jorge Guerra Jr., chairman of the Miami Realtors Association; One Sotheby’s Realtor associate Robert Hite; Sunny Isles Beach specialist; Master Brokers Forum member Karen Matluck; and Compass Realty Vice President Carole Smith. The Miami Association of Realtors is providing the free webinar “Real estate transactions during a global pandemic” from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Attorney Michael Merino will inform viewers about several aspects related to remote closings, including online notarization, digital signatures, statutes and laws related to digital closings.
