Things To Do

Updated: Here’s what you can and can’t do in Miami this weekend. But watch the weather

Keeping track of what’s open and closed during the COVID-19 pandemic can be confusing. So if you are desperate to get out of the house, here’s what you can and can’t do this weekend.

The threat of Hurricane Isaias has currently closed beaches, parks and more starting at 8 p.m. Friday; reopening depends on the storm’s track.

Just remember that Miami-Dade County has a daily curfew from 10 p.m.-6 a.m., while Miami Beach’s entertainment district has a daily 8 p.m. curfew. The district includes Ocean Drive, Washington Avenue and Collins Avenue from Fifth to 16th streets.

Also, masks are now mandatory in Miami-Dade County with a few exceptions; if you’re caught without one, you might get fined.

Special events

Only in Dade presents “The Big Screen Comedy Drive In Show.” hosted by DJ Laz with appearances by El Caballo, Cisco Duran and Gene Harding. 7:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at Dezerland Park, 14401 NE 19th Ave., North Miami Beach. $50 per car; tickets at Event Brite.

Restaurants

Restaurants are open for outdoor dining, takeout or delivery under Miami-Dade County’s latest COVID-19 restrictions. Some restaurants have closed temporarily during the COVID-19 outbreak, while others have closed for good. Still others have dramatically changed their menus to better serve takeout customers.

Bars

Bars are closed unless they have a food license. If they do have a license, they can only serve drinks outdoors and must abide by the Miami-Dade County curfew.

Nightclubs

Nightclubs are still closed under county rules.

Beaches

County beaches are closed due to Hurricane Isaias.

Movie theaters

Movie theaters are still closed in Miami-Dade County, but Regal Cinemas announced it plans to reopen Aug. 21 with new health measures.

But bored moviegoers can check out a variety of pop-up drive-in movie theaters in South Florida. Just remember: it’s probably going to rain.

Parks

All Miami-Dade parks will close by 8 p.m. July 31 due to Hurricane Isaias. This includes marinas and golf courses.
