Miami food podcast: Michelin star predictions, new local restaurants guide

Miami is finally getting Michelin stars. But which restaurants and how many?

On the June 9 episode of La Ventanita, the Miami Herald food podcast, my co-host Amy Reyes and I invite professional eater Ryan Pfeffer of the Infatuation to talk about Florida finally getting a Michelin Guide. The first Miami stars will be announced Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Orlando.

I’ll discuss my predictions. Readers who dine out for sport had opinions!

The Infatuation bought out the Zagat guide, the little red booklets that were the original restaurant guides in America. And now Ryan, the editor of Miami’s Infatuation, dines out all over Miami, at high-end places and tiny mom-and-pop spots. We’ll banter about how worked up people are getting about where Miami fits into the Michelin Guide universe.

Plus, we’ll talk about:

  • Our guide to new restaurants in Miami, which runs in print June 7 but is always available online, where it’s sortable by price, cuisine and neighborhood
  • Whether Michelin is announcing this week to steal thunder from the James Beard Awards, which will be announced starting June 11.

Tune in Thursdays at 11 a.m. to watch La Ventanita live on YouTube and the Miami Herald website. Find every episode of La Ventanita podcast at the show page and on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Megaphone, Stitcher and MiamiHerald.com.
