This Miami neighborhood is one of the coolest in the world, TimeOut says

If you live in Brickell, you already believe with all your heart you live in one of the coolest neighborhoods in the world.

And now, TimeOut agrees with you.

TimeOut just released its annual “Coolest Neighborhoods” list, and — you guessed it — Brickell made the list. Sorry, Kendall. Robbed again.

Home to constant construction, high-end condos and a bridge always on the verge of sending drivers into an emotional tailspin, Brickell is one of just five neighborhoods in the United States to make the list. The others are Andersonville in Chicago, which came in at No. 2; Chelsea in New York; Silver Lake in Los Angeles; and Central Square on the border of Boston and Cambridge.

To come to this conclusion, TimeOut editors used the results of the annual Time Out Index survey, which polled 27,000 city dwellers, then offered the results to local editors and contributors, who vetted the vote and made final picks. A panel of experts who definitely don’t live in Kendall ranked the neighborhoods.

TimeOut refers to Brickell as “Miami’s mini Manhattan,” a comparison that can only be classified as annoying and true.

The Miami neighborhood “continues to grow and evolve — and not just upwards,” TimeOut wrote, going on to praise the opening of The Underline, Miami’s linear park, and Brickell’s happy hour culture, in particular The River Oyster Bar and Kush Hospitality’s Tribute to Tobacco Road, which opened earlier this year and pays homage to one of Miami’s late, great watering holes.

A perfect Brickell day, the story says, involves eating a croissant from B Bistro + Bakery, shopping at Brickell City Centre and sweating through a spin class at Riverside Miami, where RedBike pops up some nights. All things considered, we’ll just stick with Tobacco Road.

The coolest neighborhood in the world? According to TimeOut, it’s Nørrebro, Copenhagen.

This isn’t the first time Brickell has been called the jewel of South Florida. Earlier this year, Niche, a website that helps people decide where to live, named Brickell the best place to live in the Miami area.
