The FIFA World Cup is coming to South Florida for the first time in 2026.

Hard Rock Stadium was one of 16 venues picked to host games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Thursday and the home of the Miami Dolphins will be one of the venues for the 48-team tournament.

The United States is jointly hosting the 2026 World Cup with neighbors Canada and Mexico, and all games from the quarterfinals on will take place in the US.

This will be the USA’s second time hosting a World Cup. The US also hosted the 1994 FIFA World Cup, but the only games in Florida were held in Orlando at what is now called Camping World Stadium.

Are Miami tickets already available?

Tickets aren’t yet available for the World Cup and probably won’t be for a few years — think sometime in 2025.

There is, after all, still another World Cup between now and 2026. Qatar will host the 2022 World Cup in the fall.

The long wait ahead means there’s plenty of time to start saving up. Tickets are expected to be in the range of $300 for the event.

What other cities are hosting?

Miami is one of 11 American markets hosting games in the 2026 World Cup. Three Mexican cities and two Canadian cities will also host games.

The other American markets are Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle. The Mexican cities are Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey, and the Canadian cities are Vancouver and Toronto.

Miami’s games, of course, will actually be in Miami Gardens, just like Boston’s will be Foxborough, Massachusetts; Dallas’ will be in Arlington, Texas; Los Angeles’ will be in Inglewood, California; San Francisco’s will actually be in Santa Clara, California; and New York’s will be in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Hard Rock has also been the home to six Super Bowls, five college football national championships, 25 Orange Bowls, second-round games in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, WrestleMania 28, three Miami Opens and, most recently, the grounds of the stadium transformed into the Miami International Autodrome to host the inaugural Miami Grand Prix last month.

Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel last month said he hopes Miami-Dade County will get to host the final, but no announcement has been made about which city will host games in each round of the tournament.
