Even with a tropical storm warning in place for South Florida, the Miami Marlins’ games against the San Francisco Giants this weekend are currently set to go on as scheduled.

A team spokesperson Friday said the Marlins are aware of and monitoring the impending inclement weather that could come over the weekend from Potential Tropical Cyclone One, which will be named Alex should it strengthen to a tropical storm on its way through the Gulf of Mexico. Four to eight inches forecast for most of South Florida and up to 12 inches in some spots, which amplifies the possibility for flooding.

But as of Friday morning, game times for the rest of the Marlins’ four-game series with the Giants have not changed. Friday’s first pitch at loanDepot park, which has a retractable roof, is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. Saturday’s game is slated to start at 4:10 p.m. The series finale on Sunday is at 1:40 p.m. Miami won the series opener 3-0 on Thursday.

The team relayed through team radio play-by-play announcer Glenn Geffner on Thursday that it will have a plan in place to safely get fans to and from the parking garages.

Both opening games of the NCAA Baseball Coral Gables Regional, hosted by the University of Miami, have already been postponed from Friday to Saturday.
