P.J. Coats’ three touchdowns lead South Dade Buccaneers over Homestead Broncos
P.J. Coats scored three touchdowns to lead the Buccaneers (7-3, 2-2 District 16-8) to a 28-20 victory over the Broncos at Harris Field.
With the win, South Dade retains the Centennial Cup.
Coats scored two first-half touchdowns on runs of 10 yards and 1 yard.
Late in the third quarter, a 44-yard Broncos field goal by Uriel Hernandez cut the Buccaneers lead to 14-10, but the ensuing kickoff was returned 90 yards by Jhavonte Dean.
A 44-yard pass from Coats to James Wiggins extended the South Dade lead.
Prince Cowart led Homestead with 286 passing yards.
