Southwest awaits three-way playoff in District 15-8A

Invigorated by Belen’s loss to Ferguson, Southwest wasted little time coming out and taking advantage of the situation at Tropical Park.

Southwest scored on the first play of the game and never stopped from there as the Eagles (8-1, 4-1) blew out to a 35-0 halftime lead, initiating a running clock in the second half of the District 15-8A contest. As a result of the 41-0 win, Southwest forced a three-way tiebreaker between it, Belen and Ferguson for two playoff spots. The three-way tiebreaker will be Monday at 7 p.m. at Tropical.

Varela (4-5, 2-3) had a shot of getting into the tiebreaker mix but was eliminated before the game because of Belen’s loss to Ferguson.
