Miami Central escapes past Carol City, wins district title
Miami Central avoided an upset and clinched the district title with a 23-16 win versus rival Carol City.
The game was a back and forth affair, as no team led by more then 4 points until the final minute of the game when the Rockets pulled away with Beymar Piraquive's third field goal of the day.
Da'Vante Philips had five receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown. Philips was key during a crucial drive in the third quarter when the Rockets were down. He had back-to-back receptions of more than 20 yards, which led to Rockets taking the lead.
The Rockets defensive line limited the Chiefs to 22 yards rushing in the first half.
