Second-quarter surge powers Plantation American Heritage to win over Cardinal Gibbons
Plantation American Heritage (6-3, 2-0) clinched the District 16-5A championship with a 50-0 shutout against Cardinal Gibbons (6-3, 0-2).
American Heritage started off slowly but scored four touchdowns in a 4-minute 26-second span in the second quarter.
Senior running back Travis Jackson scored on a 2-yard carry to open the barrage and capped it off with 2:06 left in the half on a 39-yard run. Jackson finished the game with three rushing touchdowns.
Quarterback Torrance Gibson connected with senior receiver Janarvis Pough on a 62-yard pass and then ran in a keeper from 13 yards.
