St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders overcome penalties to roll past Cypress Bay Lightning

Despite having three touchdowns called back because of penalties, St. Thomas Aquinas defeated Cypress Bay, 34-7, in Weston.

Jordan Scarlett scored two touchdowns and rushed for 72 yards on 14 carries to lead the Raiders. Quarterback Frank Rizzo completed 13 of 19 passes for 198 yards and two scores for the Raiders (6-1).

St. Thomas turned the ball over three times and committed 10 penalties, three of which erased Raider touchdowns.

The Raiders’ James Oliphant ran back a punt 55 yards for a second-quarter touchdown.

Running back Devante Gayle led all rushers with 73 yards on nine carries for the Lightning (5-2).
