Late field goal helps Western win first game this season
Western (1-6, 1-3) acquired its first win of the season, defeating Cooper City (2-5, 1-3) 20-17 in a district contest at home.
Junior placekicker Alex Santiago converted a game-winning 28-yard field goal with just over two minutes remaining in the game.
Senior quarterback Mitchell Riorddan led the Wildcats offense, passing for 189 yards and two touchdowns.
Five forced turnovers and a blocked punt were the difference in the game for Western.
Cooper City will face Everglades on the road next week. Western is at Flanagan.
