Taravella standout Mason Green is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

Green successfully defended his title in the 100 butterfly with a time of 50.01 at the BCAA championships, .85 seconds faster than his time that got him a ninth-place finish in the Class 4A state title meet last season. He also won the 200-freestyle at 1:42.67, which was the second fastest time in Broward this season.

Next up on the swimming docket is district meets, which began on Monday and run through Saturday for Classes 3A and 4A. Regionals for those two classifications take place from Oct. 24-29, with the state meet being held Nov. 4 for Class 3A and Nov. 5 for Class 4A.
