Three key Hurricanes now listed as questionable for SMU game. The details
Three Miami Hurricanes starters’ status for No. 10 UM’s road game against the SMU Mustangs are now in question.
Wide receiver CJ Daniels, cornerback OJ Frederique Jr. and defensive lineman Ahmad Moten Sr. are all listed as questionable for Saturday’s game (noon, ESPN), according to the latest availability report released by the ACC on Friday night.
None of the three was listed on the initial report released Thursday.
The league will release a final report at 10 a.m. Saturday, two hours before kickoff at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
Daniels leads the Hurricanes with six touchdown catches and is second on the team with 33 catches and 351 yards.
Frederique, a Freshman All-American a season ago, has a team-leading five pass breakups to go along with 10 tackles. But Frederique only played 12 snaps in Miami’s win over Stanford last week as the Hurricanes used a rotation of Frederique, Xavier Lucas, Damari Brown and Ethan O’Connor at outside corner against the Cardinal.
Moten, who has started alongside David Blay at defensive tackle, has 16 tackles, three tackles for loss and a sack through seven games.
In addition to those three, linebackers Malik Bryant and Bobby Washington Jr. plus defensive lineman Mykah Newton are also listed as questionable to play against the Mustangs.
Seven players, none who are major contributors, are listed as out: Defensive lineman Hayden Lowe; wide receiver Chance Robinson; tight ends Jack Nickel, Jackson Carver and Dylan Reiman; and offensive linemen Ralph Scroggins and Demetrius Campbell.
