It looks like Akheem Mesidor should be good to go for the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes’ road game against the SMU Mustangs on Saturday (noon, ESPN).

Mesidor is not listed on the ACC’s first availability report for the Miami-SMU game that was released Thursday night. The Hurricanes have two players listed as questionable in linebacker Bobby Washington Jr., and defensive lineman Mykah Newman. Seven players, none who are major contributors, are listed as out: Defensive lineman Hayden Lowe; wide receiver Chance Robinson; tight ends Jack Nickel, Jackson Carver and Dylan Reiman; and offensive linemen Ralph Scroggins and Demetrius Campbell.

Mesidor did not play in Miami’s 42-7 win last week after sustaining an apparent foot injury in the Hurricanes’ loss to Louisville on Oct. 17. Mesdior was not on UM initial availability report for Stanford week but was added as being questionable on Friday and then a game-time decision Saturday afternoon before ultimately spending the night in street clothes.

In Mesidor’s absence, sophomore Marquise Lightfoot started opposite Rueben Bain Jr. while several other young defensive linemen — notably Armondo Blount, Booker Pickett and Herbert Scroggins III — received extended playing time as well.

Cristobal on Monday said he anticipated Mesidor would return this week.

“We expected him last week,” Cristobal said. “We probably err on the side of optimism more times than not, but we follow directions from the medical staff and felt good about it then. Feel good about it now.”

SMU’s list on the availability report is a little more extensive.

It breaks down as follows...

-Nine players are listed as probable: Quarterback Kevin Jennings; wide receivers Romello Brinson and Jordan Hudson, tight end RJ Maryland; defensive linemen Terry Webb, DJ Warner, Jeffrey M’ba and Kevin Allen; and cornerback Javion Holiday

-Four players are listed as questionable: Running back Chris Johnson Jr., tight end Matthew Hibner, defensive end Cameron Robertson and safety Tyren Polley

-13 players are listed as out: Defensive backs Zadian Gentry, Jaelyn Davis-Robinson and La’Modrick Spencer; linebackers Justin Medlock and Kyle Ferm; wide receivers Meyer Pereira and Isaiah Robertson; tight ends Will Locke and James Larson; offensive linemen Henry Douglass and Alex Woods; and defensive linemen Aakil Washington and Jonathan Jefferson.

Breaking down the ACC’s availability reports

The ACC this season began requiring teams to submit three availability reports before conference football games. The first is released two nights before the game (Thursday in this case), the second the night before the game (Friday in this case) and the third two hours before kickoff (so 10 a.m. Saturday this week).

Reports submitted before game day will have four potential designations: Available, probable, questionable and out. The league defines those four designations as follows...

Available: “Fully available to play in the game.”

Probable: “Likely to play; greater than 50% chance.”

Questionable: “Uncertain to play; less than 50% chance.”

Out: “Will not play in the game.”

The report released on game day have three status designations for players: Available, game time decision and out and are defined as follows

Available: “Fully available to play in the game.”

Game Time Decision: “Final decision will be made closer to the game.”

Out: “Will not play in the game.”
