The Miami Hurricanes once again handled business on Saturday, defeating their second ranked opponent of the season in a convincing 49-12 win over the USF Bulls at Hard Rock Stadium to improve to 3-0 on the season.

And the Hurricanes continue inching up in the AP top 25 poll as a result.

The Hurricanes moved up one spot to No. 4 in the latest AP poll, released Sunday afternoon. UM was No. 5 in the poll the past two weeks after beginning the season at No. 10.

The Hurricanes received three of 66 first-place votes.

Miami is the only undefeated team with multiple wins over ranked opponents, doing so against then-No. 6 Notre Dame in the season opener on Aug. 31 and then-No. 18 USF on Saturday. It’s the first time Miami has started a season 3-0 with at least two ranked wins in those first three games since 1993 season. The Hurricanes opened that campaign with wins over then-No. 20 Boston College, unranked Virginia Tech and then-No. 13 Colorado.

There was a lot of movement overall in the AP poll. That’s to be expected early in the season when five ranked teams lose in the same week, including two to unranked opponents.

The Ohio State Buckeyes remain in the top spot, with the Penn State Nittany Lions, LSU Tigers, Hurricanes and Georgia Bulldogs rounding out the top five.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Vanderbilt Commodores and USC Trojans entered the poll this week. Georgia Tech is at No. 18 after its upset over the Clemson Tigers, while Vanderbilt is at No. 20 after its upset over the South Carolina Gamecocks. Both Clemson and South Carolina fell out of the poll.

Meanwhile, USF also dropped out of the poll after its loss to Miami, and Notre Dame plummeted 16 spots to No. 24 after losing to the Texas A&M Aggies, which moved up six spots to No. 10

The Hurricanes wrap up their non-conference slate on Saturday when they host the Florida Gators (1-2), with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. on ABC. ESPN’s College GameDay will be in town for the game.
