The Sound of South Florida politics: How radio, social media shape narratives.
South Florida’s political rhythms involve a mix of languages, cultures and points of view. Election campaigns have adapted and evolved.
In this year’s election season, the Miami Herald and el Nuevo Herald are taking a data-driven look at one of South Florida’s unique characteristics: its vibrant, influential Spanish-language radio outlets, often echoed and amplified by social media. It is where political narratives are shaped and where campaigns can be won or lost.
This project is a collaboration with researchers at Florida International University and uses a data platform developed by Global Voices. It is funded by Journalism Funding Partners, which received support from the Knight Disinformation Fund at The Miami Foundation.
