Lottery player turns $20 into life-changing jackpot prize in Georgia. What to know
A lottery player’s stop for a $20 scratch-off game paid off in a big way.
The lucky winner claimed their $1.5 million prize Monday, Dec. 16, after hitting the jackpot on a Holiday Jumbo Bucks 100X scratcher, according to the Georgia Lottery.
The ticket was purchased at a Stop N Shop convenience store in Nashville, about a 90-mile drive northeast from Tallahassee, Florida, officials said.
The player beat odds of 1-in-1,120,000 to win the game’s top prize, according to the lottery’s website.
Officials didn’t release additional details.
It’s the latest in a string of big lottery wins across the Peach State. Earlier this month, someone in Allenhurst won a $474,752 Fantasy 5 jackpot after matching all five numbers in the Dec. 11 drawing.
Winners have 90 days from the expiration date to claim a prize on instant games, and players are encouraged to sign the back of their tickets, according to the Georgia Lottery.
