Best Buy joins growing list of retailers to close on Thanksgiving

Best Buy is the latest retailer to announce it will close its doors to customers on Thanksgiving Day.

The electronics store, which has over 900 locations across the U.S., announced the decision in a press release Tuesday.

“To meet our customers’ changing lives this holiday, we’re enhancing the way we fulfill orders, from offering more convenient pickup options at our stores to making sure BestBuy.com orders arrive at the right time,” the company said. “With these changes, we’ve also decided to close our stores on Thanksgiving Day.”

The decision comes just days after Target announced similar holiday closures, citing concerns about the coronavirus pandemic, McClatchy News reported.

Among other changes, Best Buy said it will offer holiday pricing earlier this year so customers don’t miss out on the “hottest deals of the season.”

“Although this holiday season may certainly look different, we’re ready to once again be there for our customers how, when and where they need us, during the most exciting time of the year,” the company said.
