A Miami man is accused of shooting a man, a mother and 2 kids at a family get-together

A Coconut Grove-area man was arrested on attempted murder charges Sunday afternoon, about 14 hours after a quadruple shooting after a family gathering in Richmond Heights.

Alfonzo Amaker, 30, sits in Miami-Dade Corrections custody, arrested on four counts of attempted murder, one each for the 42-year-old Tobias Holt, 27-year-old Asdiamon Smith and Smith’s children, a 4-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy. All four are in stable condition at Jackson South Medical Center and Kendall Regional Medical Center.

Amaker is being held on $100,000 bond.

The arrest report says “an aggressive verbal dispute” began in front of a house in the 14900 block of Pierce Street around 2 a.m. Sunday. Smith pulled out a gun and pointed it at the ground. When things calmed down, the report says, Smith put the gun back in her purse and she walked south on Pierce Street to her car with Holt and her children.

When they got to the car, the report says, Amaker fired his gun “several times at the victims, ultimately striking all four victims. After being struck by gunfire, Ms. Smith retrieved her firearm and returned fire in self defense.”

Amaker later showed up at Miami-Dade Police Department’s Kendall station with his gun, the report said.

“Post-Miranda, Mr. Amaker admitted to his involvement in the incident and provided a self-serving statement.”
