A domestic incident ends with a deputy-involved shooting and a dead suspect, BSO says

A Sunday night call about shots being fired in Pompano Beach turned into more shots fired by both suspect Miguel Gomez and Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies, BSO said.

Gomez, 56, was killed on the scene.

BSO said when deputies arrived to investigate the shots-fired call, Gomez fired at them. The deputies shot back. The agency said there were no other injuries in the incident, which occurred around 10:26 p.m. in the 2500 block of Northeast 11th Court.

As is standard in deputy-involved shootings, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate. BSO homicide detectives are investigating the domestic incident that led to the original call.
