Man fatally shot in Fort Lauderdale. One of the gunmen wore ‘medical-type’ mask, cops say.
Fort Lauderdale police are asking for the community’s help after a 40-year-old man was gunned down in a parking lot just before nightfall Wednesday.
On Friday, the department released surveillance video showing two men jumping out of a silver four-door pickup truck and people scurrying away. The truck can be seen leaving before anyone gets back in.
Police say at least one of the men was wearing “a medical-type mask during the shooting.”
The man killed was Caleb Fields of Fort Lauderdale.
The shooting happened just after 7 p.m. in the 800 block of Northwest 22nd Road.
The video shows the truck stopping on the side of the street and one man getting out of the passenger side and another getting out of the bed of the truck. Seconds later people can be seen running away and the truck speeds off.
Fields was shot “multiple times” and taken to Broward Health Medical Center where he died, police said.
