Police: Miami shooting victim found near park, taken to hospital in serious condition

A man was hospitalized Saturday afternoon and is in serious condition following a shooting in Miami-Dade County, police said.

Though the location of the shooting remains unknown — it appears the victim fled the scene after he was injured — a civilian found the man at 3148 NW 60th St. near Brownsville, said Miami-Dade Police spokesman Lee Cowart.

The anonymous caller dialed 911 around 4:35 p.m., and officers found the injured man near the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park, which in 2017 became the scene of a high-profile shooting when eight were injured during a celebration of the civil rights leader.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the man to Ryder Trauma Center, where he was receiving treatment, Cowart said. He added that no further information would be released on Saturday night.

There have been at least three shootings in Miami-Dade County since Friday night, when two people were injured in a shooting in Hialeah. A man was killed in a shooting nearby early Saturday morning.
