Man charged with murder of a jewelry designer inside his luxury condo, police say
Not even a week after a jewelry designer was shot to death inside his Miami luxury apartment, police say they have arrested his killer.
On Wednesday, police arrested John Stanton, 28, on a murder charge.
Stanton, who in 2015 was placed on probation for criminal mischief, misdemeanor stalking and written threats, was being held in Miami-Dade’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with no bond.
On July 20, Marley Jackson, 34, a New Jersey-raised custom jewelry designer, was found dead inside his apartment on the sixth floor of the Blue Condominium at 601 NE 36th St.
According to Stanton’s arrest report, a witness told officers “they heard a brief struggle followed by a gunshot coming from the victim’s apartment.”
Stanton, who was arrested early Wednesday near Mary Brickell Village, refused to speak to detectives without a lawyer, police said in the report.
The report did not indicate where Stanton lived or if he held a job.
