Knaus Berry Farm cuts season short due to coronavirus, says it’s ‘socially responsible’

The long summer break without Knaus Berry Farm’s cinnamon rolls, fresh baked bread and strawberry shakes just got longer.

That’s because the Redland staple announced over the weekend it will close three weeks ahead of schedule because of COVID-19 concerns. The farm does not reopen until October.

“The 2019-20 season has been good,” the bakery said on Facebook. “Lord willing we will see for the 2020-21 season. “

The farm, a family operation since 1956, shared a photo Saturday of Miami-Dade police officers outside of the farm.

“We want to thank the hard working men and women of the Miami-Dade County PD for helping us get an out of control crowd back in control!” Knaus Berry Farm posted.

Shortly after, the farm said it would close. “It just seems like the socially responsible thing to do. Be smart, be safe and don’t forget to wash your hands!”
