South Florida real estate calendar for the week of Sept. 7

Real estate webinars this week focus on a variety of topics, including re-imagining public spaces during the pandemic.

Sept. 7

The Gainseville-based Civic Media Center will host the free discussion “Community space” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Representatives from the Asheville-based Firestorm Books & Coffee, Liberty City-based PowerU, and the Washington Heights-based Word Up Community Bookshop will discuss how organizing spaces help build community and how these spaces are surviving during Covid-19. Sept. 10

The Coral Gables-based law firm Siegfried Rivera will host the free webinar “Service animals & your community” from 3 to 4 p.m. Laura Manning-Hudson, a partner at Siegfried Rivera, will outline the different strategies condo associations may follow when receiving support animal requests. Sept. 11

The D.C.-based Urban Land Institute will host the free webinar “Confronting Covid — making moves: Transportation, public space, and equity in the time of the coronavirus” from 1 to 2:15 p.m. The panelists include Destiny Thomas, the founder and CEO of the Fresno-based urban planning firm Thrivance, Warren Logan, City of Oakland’s policy director of mobility and interagency relations, and Kim Lucas, the assistant director of transportation for the City of Pittsburgh. The speakers will analyze how cities across the country are using public spaces to entice residents into the outdoors, especially those with large minority populations, what community engagement looks like during Covid-19, and what strategies are likely to change public spaces in the long run. The Little Havana-based Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida will host the free presentation “Foreclosure prevention workshop” exclusively for Spanish speakers from 8 to 9 a.m. The organization will outline potential solutions for home owners who have been unable to pay their mortgage due to issues related to Covid-19.
