A bestselling Mexican-American author’s Coconut Grove home is up for sale. Price: $9.95M
Maria Alejandra Llamas, whose Spanish-language personal empowerment books have sold millions, has a new title: Empty nester. With their children gone, Llamas and her husband are starting a new chapter, outside South Florida.
Llamas and her husband, Genaro Diaz Lozano, CEO of the Coral Gables-based real estate asset management firm GreenWater Investments, have listed their 12,042-square-foot, gated home in the South Grove for $9.95 million, according to Mansion Global. The custom-built, single-story home at 4100 Kiaora Street has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a half bathroom with a courtyard at its center.
The home includes an attached four-car garage, gym, office, and built-in bookshelves. The expansive backyard includes a pool, Jacuzzi, and volleyball court.
Douglas Elliman Realtors Michael Light and Jaimee Light are the listing agents.
“We have had many showings and a lot of interest from Northeastern buyers and Grove residents looking to upgrade to a larger single-family home. Being that the property is near the best private schools and located in the most walkable neighborhood makes it even more desirable,” said Michael Light by email. “The home does not face any challenges [due to Covid-19.] In fact, this is the exact type of home that an affluent buyer from out-of-state looking to relocate to South Florida is looking for.”
Llamas and Lozano bought the 47,705-square-foot lot in 2016 for $2.745 million and built the existing home. With both of their kids away for college, the couple is relocating permanently to their second home in Aspen, Michael said by email.
The home is priced at $826 per square foot, nearly double of the most recent comparable sale. The two-story, waterfront, 10,014-square-foot home at 1872 S. Bayshore Lane sold for $449 per square foot in July.
The home merits the listing price, Michael said by email, because of its lot size, “which is very rare in Coconut Grove.” The home at 1872 S. Bayshore Dr. sits on a lot less than one-third the size.
