Employment strategies to sustainable development — it’s all on this week’s real estate calendar.

Aug. 25

The Florida branch of America’s Small Business District Center, a division of the U.S. Small Business Administration, and Florida International University will host the free webinar “HR in the age of Covid-19: Retaining employees & recruiting talent” from 1 to 2 p.m. Orlando Espinosa, co-founder of the Miami-based marketing firm Emineo Media, will discuss strategies for interviewing and hiring during the pandemic. Aug. 26

The New York-based digital media company Bisnow will host the free webinar “South Florida sustainable and healthy buildings: Keeping tenants safe while keeping energy bills down” from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. {anelists include Jonathon Yormak, managing principal of the New York-headquartered East End Capital investment firm; Tere Blanca, CEO of the Brickell-based Blanca Commercial Real Estate; and Carl Newhouse, regional sales director for the national SageGlass sustainable glass commercial producer. The speakers will discuss office leasing for sustainable buildings, how landlords are drawing tenants back to their workplaces, and temporary versus permanent health-conscious changes landlords and tenants are implementing. Aug. 27

The D.C.-based nonprofit Urban Land Institute will host the webinar “Re:shaping cities — post-pandemic perspectives” from 11 a.m. to noon. Speakers include Harmen van Sprang, co-founder of the real estate consulting firm shareNL and the Sharing Cities Alliance, and Tom Bosschaert, founder and director of the sustainability-focused consulting firm Except. Bosschaert and van Sprang will highlight examples of cities moving beyond the Paris Agreement on climate change to eliminate their waste and carbon emissions, and development strategies for sustainable commercial and residential projects.
