The construction industry is at the center of most talks this week.

June 22

The Miami Association of Realtors will publish its May 2020 existing home sales report for South Florida. The Miami-Dade and Broward reports are expected to show the continued impact of the coronavirus pandemic on condo and single-family home sales. The association’s April 2020 report showed an approximately 40% drop in home sales in both counties when comparing April 2019 to April 2020. The reports will be accessible to the public for free on the association’s homepage.

June 23

The D.C.-based nonprofit the Urban Land Institute will host the webinar “Technology in construction” from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Three different contractors and developers will discuss what technology they are utilizing on their job sites, including the Winter Garden-headquartered contractor Clancy & Theys, Raleigh-based development firm Kane Realty, and the Boston-headquartered commercial real estate owner and development firm the Fallon. Tickets vary from free admission for full ULI members to $145 for non-members. RSVP here.

The Society for Marketing Professional Services will host the free webinar “Five remote work habits to take back to the office” from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Marketing consultant Marion Thatch will share strategies employers and employees can practice from the office after working from home to maintain an efficient workflow. The South Miami-based contractor firm M2E will host the free event “COVID-19 & Construction Projects: Implications for Community Associations” from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The firm’s clients include development firms Codina Partners, Lennar, Terra and Related. Engineers from the firm, attorneys from the Coral Gables-based law practice Siegfried Rivera and FirstService Residential, a property management firm headquartered in the Waterford Business District, will discuss how community associations are moving forward on renovations for multifamily projects during COVID-19.
