Real estate calendar for the week of May 11
Webinars this week focus on a variety of topics, from best practices for working from home to the future of sustainable construction. Here are some of the week’s noteworthy talks:
May 12
▪ Florida International University’s Jorge M. Pérez Metropolitan Center will host the webinar “Remote work best practices” from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Aileen Izquierdo, the interim chair of the communications department in the College of Communication, Architecture and the Arts at FIU, will share communication strategies for supervisors and staff. ▪ The D.C.-based nonprofit Urban Land Institute will host “The purpose of place and retail’s great transformation” from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Panelists will consider how the pandemic has influenced the retail market nationwide and what the future may hold for commercial real estate. Gensler Principal David Glover will moderate the discussion between Boston Properties Executive Vice President Bryan Koop and Gensler Principal Lara Marrero. ▪ The Miami Lakes-based organization Commercial Real Estate Women Miami, or CREW Miami, will host the free webinar “Proceed with caution: CRE Advisors on reopening the workplace” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Local leaders will discuss the precautions supervisors should weigh before asking staff to return to the workplace, strategies when doing so and the ideal timing. Speakers include TLC Engineering Solutions Managing Principal Brian Lomel, Madison Marquette Executive Vice President for the eastern region Patty Nooney and Bilzin Sumberg partner Melissa Pallett-Vasquez. ▪ The South Florida branch of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, or NAIOP, will host the free webinar “Show me the money...and the discount deals” from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The discussion will focus on a market update for South Florida’s commercial real estate market and what the future may hold for pricing and sale volumes after the pandemic.
