Real estate agenda for South Florida: Mark your calendars for the week of Feb. 24
Real estate talks this week in Miami and Fort Lauderdale focus on a range of topics, from closing the racial wealth gap through homeownership to the rise of Little River.
▪ Feb. 26: Connect Media, the commercial real estate news organization based out of Los Angeles and New York, will host the panel “South Florida on the Move” from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Rusty Pelican at 3201 Rickenbacker Cwy. Anthony Graziano, the chairman and CEO of the Kendall-based commercial real estate firm Integra Realty Resources, will give the keynote presentation.
The discussions focus on commercial real estate market trends, financing and large projects in the pipeline for South Florida. There are over 10 speakers, including Blanca Commercial Real Estate Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Tere Blanca and Cushman & Wakefield Executive Managing Director Robert Kaplan. ▪ The Commercial Industrial Association of South Florida will host the event “What’s the buzz in Little River about?” from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Citadel at 8300 NE Second Ave. Speakers include Matthew Vander Werff of MVW Partners — a Little River-based real estate firm specializing in adaptive reuse and urban infill developments, Barry University and Nova Southeastern University adjunct professor and historian Seth Bramson, and Nick Hamann of the Springs Garden-based general contracting firm Urban Atlantic Group. ▪ Brooks + Scarpa, an architecture firm with offices in Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles, will host the free talk “Dense-City: Housing for quality of life and social capital” from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Florida Atlantic University School of Architecture MetroLAB at 111 E. Las Olas Blvd.
The architect Angela Brooks, co-principal of Brooks + Scarpa, will talk about design ideas for increasingly dense communities and designs for affordable housing. RSVP here.
▪ Feb. 29: The national OneUnited Bank, an African American-owned, Boston-based bank, will host a free home ownership fair from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Liberty City OneUnited Bank branch at 3275 NW 79th St. Bank representatives will discuss several home ownership topics, including payment assistance programs, refinancing a home loan and tax refunds available to homeowners.
