Miami’s top food-delivery startup is opening a new kitchen. You won’t be able to eat there
Miami-based REEF Technology, a combination food, real estate and technology business valued at more than $1 billion, has purchased a space in Midtown where it plans to build a commissary kitchen to satisfy local food delivery and retail orders.
The transaction was first reported by The Real Deal. The 2,229-square-foot property is located at 3452 North Miami Avenue. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We’re proud to continue growing our company in Miami,” REEF said in a statement. “The space will house a new production kitchen that allow us to better service REEF Kitchens as we expand across the greater Miami area.”
REEF has gained national attention as one of the pioneers of so-called “ghost kitchens,” which involve providing food delivery options from restaurants in name only that can only be ordered from via a food delivery app.
After an investment from Japanese conglomerate Softbank in December 2018, the company, formerly known as ParkJockey, was valued at more than $1 billion, making it Miami’s first tech “unicorn.”
