It’s the end of an era for Miami Hurricanes fans (who, we sadly admit, had a rough sports year and are still haunted by the destruction of the beloved Orange Bowl).

Now things are worse, because Tavern in the Grove is closing after 33 years.

The bar, which conservatively bled oceans of orange and green and was one of Miami’s favorite places to watch the Canes, announced on Instagram that it’s closing later this month.

The post lead with the headline “Notice of Celebration of Life& Eviction.”

We truly regret to inform you that our little legendary dive bar is about to become legend in the name of big business. We are as sad as you are to lose this historic piece of Coconut Grove because unlike most places we frequent these days, Tavern has soul. An energy gained through history and epic times that we helped create and sometimes barely remember. In turn, Tavern helped create who we are today with new found friendships, experiences, relationships, one-night stands, celebrations, funerals, good times, bad times, you know you’ve had your share…. At the end of an era, this place we consider a home away from home will live on through the millions of stories its extensive and eclectic family has spawned over the last 33 years! Please be sure to visit, share a story and reminisce over a beer or few in this iconic Grove staple before it’s gone! Last call to the public will be January 19th, 2020 at close. Thanks for the memories… and… lack of Cheers!

The post goes on to urge regulars to stop by one last time before the doors at 3416 Main Highway close for good: “Share a story and reminisce over a beer or few in this iconic Grove staple before it’s gone.”

The bar’s last night is Jan. 19.
