Because 2020 refuses to be normal in any way, Independence Day, July 4, falls on a Saturday, throwing a funky Friday holiday curve into some of our normal rhythms.
Supermarkets
Publix: Open.
Winn-Dixie: Open.
Sedano’s: Open regular hours.
Fresh market: Open.
Trader Joe’s: Open regular hours Friday, closed Saturday “in order to give all of our Crew Members a much needed and well-deserved day of rest.”
Whole Foods: Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.. Saturday, 7 or 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; check your favorite location.
Pharmacies
CVS/Navarro: Call your favorite location as the hours for the stores and pharmacies vary widely.
Walgreens: Stores open Friday and Saturday; call your favorite location for hours. Most pharmacies are closed Saturday.
Malls
They’re open; most have regular, pandemic-adjusted regular hours.
Mass transit
Miami-Dade: Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover will be on a regular weekday schedule on Friday and a regular weekend schedule on Saturday.
Broward: Friday, current modified Saturday schedule. Saturday and Sunday will run on a Sunday schedule.
Tri-Rail: Running a weekend schedule on Saturday.
Garbage
Hialeah: Regular garbage pickup on Friday.
Miami-Dade: No curbside garbage collection on Friday, but regular recycling collection.
Miami: Regular garbage and bulky trash pickup on Friday.
Miami Beach: Regular garbage pickup Friday and Saturday. Free bulk dropoff locations open Saturday and Sunday.
Post office
Closed on Saturday, and no delivery.
Banks
Check with your bank branch. Some will be closed July 3.
Markets
