This popular Miami doughnut shop is opening a new location in Coconut Grove
The Salty Donut is expanding again.
In addition to its original Wynwood location and a shop in South Miami, the brand is opening its third South Florida location in Coconut Grove.
The new shop, which will be located across the street from Mr C Hotel and be a close neighbor of CocoWalk, is a good fit for the Grove, says co-founder and CEO Andy Rodriguez.
“There’s no question that Coconut Grove is a true ‘neighborhood’ by all facets of the definition,” he said in a statement. “It is quaint, beautiful, historic and a bustling area full of wonderful locals and outsiders alike.“
The new store is designed with a “classic cozy” vibe, he said, “offering a warm experience to make guests feel like they’re at a friend’s home or true neighborhood cafe.”
The new store will feature a few only-in-the-Grove flavors, including Caramel Apple, with caramel apple glaze, Swiss buttercream and apple and cinnamon granola, and Double Chocolate Cookie, with hot fudge glaze, crushed cookies and Maldon salt.
The first Salty Donut opened as a pop-up in 2015, with doughnuts sold out of a vintage camper in a parking lot. The shop has come a long way: it now has locations in Austin and Dallas, Texas; Charlotte, N.C.; Orlando and West Palm Beach, and in 2018 co-founder Amanda Pizarro-Rodriguez, Andy’s wife, was honored in Forbes’ 30 under 30 for Food & Drink.
In 2021, Food & Wine rated Salty Donut’s wares as the best doughnuts in Florida. The brand also teamed up with Salt & Straw, which also has locations in Coconut Grove and Wynwood, for an only-in-Florida ice cream flavor, The Salty Donut Guava + Cheese.
