This hot dayclub on Watson Island is going through some changes - again

A lot has happened at Joia Beach Restaurant and Beach Club since opening in the fall of 2020.

After just a little under a year, in June 2021, the outdoor hot spot on Watson Island, changed ownership. But the name’s the same as is the swanky Tulum-inspired decor, rustic-chic vibe and VIP clientele. These days: the latest development is with the food.

Argentine brothers Gustavo and Maximiliano Vertone (both formerly of Nobu, Baoli Miami and El Tucan) have taken over as as its executive chef and executive sous chef, respectively, fusing Asian, Mediterranean, and South American cuisines.

Recent additions to the menu include risotto with shiitake, shimeji, crimini, porcini, oyster mushrooms, and shaved black burgundy truffles; crispy lobster tails with spicy aioli; and charcoaled rack of lamb served with farro.

A Joia Beach specialty not to be missed is ordering the whole salt-crusted branzino, which is flamboyantly flambéed table side. Snap it as it comes out and watch the boats go by as your waiter deftly slices the luscious fish. The FOMO on your Instagram post will be for real.
