Want to go out for a drink? These new bars and lounges in Miami are here for you
So you want a drink.
We don’t blame you. Life is hard these days. We want a drink, too.
A few new clubs and bars have opened up over the past several months, and chances are you haven’t tried them yet. So many cocktails, so little time.
In this list you’ll find quiet, laid-back escapes with good wine as well as fancy craft cocktails and tunes on vinyl.
And if DJs, thumping bass, dress codes and bottle service are what you crave, don’t worry — there are a couple of new places that will provide that, too.
The bars at the Esmé Miami Beach
This former hostel-turned-boutique hotel, which opened in November, has three bars open to locals: El Salon, which serves cocktails made from a proprietary blend plus tapas; Bar Pintxo, which serves bites and specializes in Spanish wine, beer and Basque cider; and The Roof at Esmé, where guests can dine on Latin cuisine and maybe sip a sangria.
Esmé Miami Beach, 1438 Washington Ave., Miami Beach
Don’s 5 Star Dive Bar
If you haven’t made it to this dark-basement dream in Miami’s MiMo neighborhood yet, maybe it’s time to check it out. From Kush Hospitality, Don’s 5 Star Dive Bar pays homage to all of the city’s famous Dons (Shula, Johnson, Francisco, Bailey, etc.) and serves up fun and funky cocktails like the Sabado Gigante and Crockett Raids the Evidence Room.
Don’s 5 Star Dive Bar, Selina Gold Dust Motel, 7700 Biscayne Blvd., Miami; 7 p.m.-3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays
Paradis books and bread
Five friends wanted a cool place to hang out, so they opened this wine bar/café/lefty bookstore with its own garden, an outdoor pool table and seating and its own wine club. The menu changes seasonally but be sure to try the pizza — and ask Bianca, one of the owners, to recommend a wine. You won’t be disappointed.
Paradis bb, 2831 W Dixie Hwy., North Miami; 11 a.m.-midnight Thursday-Monday; kitchen closed daily from 3-6 p.m.; closed Tuesday-Wednesday
Monterray Bar at The Standard
The dark, sleek cocktail spot features an extensive drinks menu including the signature Lido Gin Martini with vermouth, lemon zest and herb oil. You can also order food like grilled swordfish belly with kiwi pico and avocado cream or truffled tater tots with porcini aioli.
Monterrary Bar, 40 Island Ave., Miami Beach; 5 p.m.-midnight daily
Dante’s HiFi
This intimate listening room serves up musical joy in the form of vinyl, with a chill vibe early that skews clublike as the night progresses. The cocktail menu highlights Japanese whiskey drinks.
Dante’s HiFi, 519 NW 26th St., Miami; 7 p.m.-1 a.m. Thursday-Sunday; reservations suggested, www.exploretock.com/danteshifi
Tipsy Flamingo
We are sure there is a study somewhere that says pink and neon can lift your spirits. You will find plenty of both at this whimsical Miami bar, which is so whimsical it serves a pastelito cocktail (as well as many other drinks).
Tipsy Flamingo, 40 NE First Ave., Miami; 5 p.m.-3 a.m. Tuesday-Sunday
Mad Club Wynwood
This luxury nightclub, a throwback to the days of bottle service and dress codes, sports a honeycomb motif, and someone hands you a glass of complimentary champagne when you enter. Wear your good shoes.
Mad Club Wynwood, 55 NE 24th St., Miami; 11 p.m.-5 a.m. Friday and Saturday only; reservations required at madclubwynwood.com
XXIII Club
Two things you’ll notice about this new Miami Beach club: One, it’s got a sign that says “Bitch, don’t kill my vibe,” and two, it’s got a Bitcoin ATM to meet your clubbing cryptocurrency needs. Also expect DJs and bottle service, too.
XXIII Club, 247 23rd St., Miami Beach; 11 p.m.-close Thursday-Sunday
